Scooterville

Scooterville Scooterville
Scooterville is what we, who work at the Gulf Towers, jockingly call the retirement apartment complex located on the Gulf of Mexico. (We, refers to the in-house beautician, and me, the Activity Director.) Many of our residents move down the highway of life with the assistance of scooters, power-chairs, walkers, and canes, which provides them a better quality of life.
Within the pages of Scooterville, we tell their stories. The witty tales will bring a grin, while the warm and fuzzy anecdotes may cause a tear to form. It is a glimpse into what goes on behind the walls of a retirement complex.

I was there, at the Launch Party
What an honor it was for me to be a part of the celebration. I made my way around to as many veterans as possible and had each of them autograph their particular story in the book. They were so proud to have their story in print for family and friends to share. All the thanks goes to Janet Nicolet who tirelessly chronicled the war time experiences of those proud veterans. I'm particularly thankful for her efforts to recount the stories of the WWII veterans; one has since passed on. Later, as I read each account, I was amazed that having had the opportunity to meet the veterans made their individual stories so much more meaningful. I found the accounts to be interesting and well written. Janet did an excellent job of capturing each individual voice as the vets shared their personal story with her. There is a wealth of American History in this book and the best part is that it is told in the voices of those who lived it. I'm certain that I join the families of all the veterans in saying . . . Thank you, Janet. Wanda Tucker Goodwin co-author "Last Roll Call - The Adventure of a B-17 Tailgunner."
